Social Media Marketing with Your Pet

If you know KP Kreative, you know Laudy, our Chief Barketing Officer. Not only is Laudy great for keeping things paws-itive, she also helps create unique and engaging content. In honor of National Pet Week, let’s dig in (last corny joke, I promise) to how you can make your pet a part of your marketing strategy.

Yes, People Want To See Your Pet

There’s no shortage of social media stars that are, well, animals. From Jiffpom to Grumpy Cat (RIP), people love looking at pictures and videos of pets on social media. What certainly starts as simply wanting to share cute pictures can turn into serious business strategies including movie deals and holiday specials.

When it comes to including your pet in your social media campaigns, it’s important to follow a few simple tips.

Go for the Masses

If your pet is doing the talking, let them talk to the masses. Marketing usually requires you to speak to your unique niche, but pets have this amazing ability to appeal to just about everyone. Using your pet in your marketing campaigns can help make your brand more appealing to people in general, which can benefit you when included with a marketing strategy that is more niche.

Post Quality Content Regularly

Just like all social media marketing strategies, including your pet in your social media isn’t a one and done. In order to develop real connections between your brand and animal-loving customers, you’ve got to share more than just one cute pic of Fido.

Also, the posts should relate to the part of your brand’s story that you are sharing. People are on social media to get inspiration, learn, and be entertained. A really cute video or photo is a great way to do that.

Partner with Other Social Media Stars

Partnerships are a great way to boost both your brand and one that is in line with your company’s mission...and the only thing cuter than one dog is more dogs! Cross-promotional posts are an opportunity to benefit from another brand’s existing followers, just as they will benefit from yours. And you just might find a new friend for your pet!

Create Authentic Connections

Partnerships can be great, but they should also be authentic. Paying an influencer just to get your name out isn’t a great way to create real connections with consumers, which is what builds lasting relationships and loyal customers. Find partners that are knowledgeable in their field and whose mission is aligned with your own brand. Additionally, you should be prepared to support their brand and they should be able to do the same, including answering questions about your business or the particular campaign you are promoting.

Your Campaigns Should Be Creative

So, you’d love to add your pet to your marketing team, but you don’t own a pet-centered business. So what?! Animals have the potential for mass appeal, so you can really promote any type of business. When I think of some of my favorite ad campaigns, they usually include animals and they usually are for something unrelated to pet food or products (I’m looking at you, Subaru!). Keep an open mind, get creative, and leverage the power of a cute puppy.
