How to Measure Performance for Googles Page Experience Update

The time has come for Google’s new Page Experience update. This page experience ranking update was announced in November 2020 and has officially launched this June. In this blog, we’re going to touch on understanding Google’s Page Experience update and how to measure your website performance accordingly.

What’s Included in The Update?

  • The Three Core Web Vitals Metrics
  • Top Stories Carousel Feature on Google Search
  • Google News App
  • The AMP Badge Removal

How to Measure Your Website Performance Accordingly

The key components to consider for your webpage are the three Core Web Vitals Metrics. These include page loading (LCP), interactivity (FID), and visual stability (CLS). Make sure your content, graphics, and loading times are on par with Google’s metrics if you want your website to retain its rank.

Also, don’t worry if you don’t have AMP content as Google is expanding on the usage of non-AMP content.

Whether you’re developing your web page yourself or you’re a developer, here are some useful questions to ask yourself to ensure you measure-up with the coming updates:

  • Are you clearly stating your experience and expertise on your site?
  • Are you highlighting product or service capabilities and potential value?
  • Does your content accurately explain your competitive edge?
  • Do you have usage recommendations for your products or services?
  • Are you emphasizing the advantages and disadvantages of your products or services?

Though there might be a few more elements to consider, understanding Google’s Page Experience update is the first step to knowing exactly what to do.

When Google’s Page Experience Update is Launching

Though this update will gradually start rolling out in June, it will only operate at full swing by the end of August. This gives businesses enough time to measure their web pages and adapt to the new changes.
