Cleaning Up Your Digital Presence

Your business’s digital presence is vital to attracting and converting new leads. If you’re a new business it can be relatively simple to create a quality digital presence. However, if you’ve been around for a while, chances are you need to clean up your digital presence.

Establishing and cleaning a digital presence can take quite some time, but here are my tips to help you get started:

Clean Up & Make Your Social Media Profiles Consistent

We have already shared our tips for cleaning up your social media profiles. What I will recommend on a high-level is to make sure you have the appropriate Business profiles (i.e. not a personal Facebook account for your business), that they are set up in a way that best suits the platform, and that those are consistently branded across platforms. One other recommendation I have from a security standpoint is to make sure that you have 2-factor authentication turned on for your profiles in order to protect your business accounts from being hacked.

Review Your Google Business Listing

Your Google Business Listing is a profile that you can create that will sometimes show up in Google Search results or Google Maps results. We have shared some tips on how to manage and update your Google Business Listing. So I will keep my recommendations brief! Your Business Listing is a great way to share photos, location information, and client reviews with interested viewers. If you have not created a listing, I recommend you do so! If you see a listing already but you don’t manage it, then you can claim your listing. It is important to take control of your listing so you can update things like your hours or phone number, for example.

Google Your Own Business

I have recently been sharing a lot of SEO advice specifically my tips on how to use Google Search Console. Whether or not you are using this tool, you can just Google your business name to see what pops up in Google Search results. However, these results can differ based on where you are located when making the search so keep in mind that you are not necessarily seeing what everyone might see, but it is at least a start. If you do not like what is popping up for your branded search results, there are likely several steps you can take to improve your Search Presence. Reach out to see what we would recommend specific to your digital presence.
